CHÂTEAU PUYGUERAUD 2016 AC Francs Côtes de Bordeaux
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer
This attractive, rich, complex 2016 blend of 80% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc and 5% Malbec comes from the Côtes de Francs vineyards located on a rocky plateau that is one of the highest elevations in the right bank of Bordeaux. It has a youthful deep intense purple colour and a intense, very ripe, gently earthy, Damson plum nose that shows lots of complexity. On the palate, it’s medium-full bodied, gently savoury and well structured with lots of intense, ripe albeit still fairly youthful, complex, chewy, Damson plum flavours with a touch of cassis followed up be a long, lingering surprisingly dense, mouthfilling finish. A wonder with a rack of lamb. It spends 12-16 months in 225 L barrels which are renewed after three years and weighs in with 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number LPUIG1607-1:42 on the lower part of the glass bottle.
