Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer DOMAINE DU VIEUX TÉLÉGRAPHE
This highly sought-after blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 6% Mourvèdre and 4% Cinsault seemed remarkably ripe, supple and accessible when tasted on March 18, 2021 (despite not even being three years old). Perhaps that is the magic appeal of Télégramme being the second wine of Vieux Télégraphe. It has a fairly deep intense purple colour and a gently spicy, ripe plum-cherry puree nose with some sandalwood-cedar notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, fairly extracty, harmonious, faintly spicy, intense, bringht, ripe plum-cherry-craspberry-casss flavours with a lingering, gently cedary, sandalwood-tinged, fairly high acid finish. Quite delicious now - seems ready-to-drink. Aged 15-16 months in French oak foudres (30-60 hl) and bottled without filtration or fining, this blend has 15% alcohol and 1.8 g/L residual sugar with lot number L12148 on the back label. TASTING NOTE: This has a lot of red fruit, a lot of personality and a lot of brambly aromas with spicy nuances, too. The palate has a very smooth build and a deep, plum and red-fruit core, framed in long, noble and rich, ripe tannins. The immediate fleshy appeal is high. Wait for the rest. Try from 2022.
