Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer JUAN GIL
It has been six years since this Juan Gil has been in Vintages and this one is a winner! The old, dry-farmed Monastrell vines was grown on stony limestone soils. and fermented in open-top stainless steel tanks followed by 12 months in French oak barrels. It has a bright very deep intense youthful purple colour and an attractive, slightly spicy, gently cedary, fairly juicy, ripe, Damson-plum-driven, cherry-cassis nose. Dry, medium-full bodied, very well structured, slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry puree flavours followed up by a lingering, very faintly smoky, gently cedary, bright finish. It has 15% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L-0103D6 on the back label. Delicious and ready-to-drink. CSPC 1677
