Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BELCANTO DI BELLUSSI
A REPEAT that last appeared in Vintages (**) on December 7, 2019 at $19.95. Here is my previous note: Very pale straw colour. Spicy, honeyed, ripe apple-lemon-melon nose. Fairly dry, light bodied, bright, spicy, honeyed, ripe apple-melon purée flavours with a fairly crisp, gently effervescence finish. Ready-to-drink. Has 11.5% alcohol and now 15 g/L residual sugar. TASTING NOTE: Quite a vibrant yet mineral expression of upper-tier Prosecco here with both power and finesse. Intense green pear core is shot through with steely, stony minerality that tapers to a long, slow finish of white mushroom and lime. Bright acidity hides some residual sugar so it tastes drier than it is - and perfectly balanced. Much concentration and complexity for the price. Serve it with fish or seafood - ideally, grilled sardines on toast. Score - 92 (Carolyn Evans Hammond, thestar.com, May 16, 2016) Price $ 19.95
