Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer NUITON-BEAUNOY
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. From the Hautes Côtes de Nuits region just north of Beaune, this somewhat rustic Pinot Noir calls for a robust winery stew! Medium-deep red in colour, the nose has slightly red pepper-tinged, still youthful, faintly baked, plum-red-cherry fruit with some earthy notes. Very dry, medium bodied and quite well structured, the very slightly hot, youthful, ripe plum-cherry fruit is followed up by a lingering, fairly high acid, somewhat stony, sandalwood-tinged finish. It has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with no lot number evident (perhaps on the shipping carton). CSPC 18146

TASTING NOTE: Hautes Côtes de Nuits is a subregion of Burgundy situated close to the main Côte d'Or escarpment. It's known as a source of great buys for the shrewd wine lover. Look for tangy red fruit, earthy notes and stony mineral in this wine, and serve it with roast beef and root veggies. Price $ 26.95
