CLETUS 2016 IGT Toscana
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CORTE MEDICEA
Unable to get a bottle for assessment from the agent. A THIRD REPEAT of the 2016 (**/**+) that was originally released on January 5, 2019 at $17.95. Here is my original note: Very deep intense purple colour. Fairly complex, Intense, slightly spicy, bright, ripe plum nose with some sandalwood notes. Fairly dry, medium bodied, harmonious, slightly spicy, ripe, fresh plum-cherry purée flavours with a lingering, harmonious, sandalwood-tinged finish. This ready-to-drink blend of 50% Sangiovese and 50% Merlot has 13.5% alcohol and 12 g/L residual sugar with lot number L03/17 on the back label. You can safely ignore the original old unupdated Luca Maroni 96-point tasting note appearing in the Vintages Catalogue. CSPC 574137

TASTING NOTE: Sensations: an exceptional wine. Impenetrable colour and full contact with its flow thanks to majestic extractive consistency. The balance between softness, acidity and thick tannin is enjoyed in the smoothness and breadth on the palate. The oxidative integrity and clean wine execution can be felt in the purity and firmness of blackberry in all its vibrant and spicy sparkle. One of the best Italian reds this year, hats off.
