PETIT PINOTAGE 2019 WO Stellenbosch
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer KEN FORRESTER
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Very deep intense purple colour with a slightly spicy, bright, ripe, very gently juicy, plum-cherry purée nose with some orange citrus notes. Dry, medium bodied, faintly spicy, bright, fresh, ripe, plum-cherry flavours with hints of ssandalwood on the lifted, crisp, fairly high acid finish. Ready-to-drink, this 100% Pinotage has 14% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L20037 on the back label with a screwcap closure. TASTING NOTE: Fans of Pinotage know that some styles favour smoky coffee notes while others highlight vibrant fresh fruit. This wine lands squarely in the latter camp. Bright red berry, cherry and plum are ever-so-subtly shaded by hints of smoky bacon, with nary a coffee bean to be found. It'd be great alongside BLTs or schnitzel.
