Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MOËT & CHANDON
This Vintages Essential was assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO and tasted it six different glasses! The first was the ISO glass which is my standard. Bright medium straw colour with an abundance of streams of tiny bubbles. Very attractive, faintly spicy, ripe lemon-apple meringue nose with elegant, gently toasty, mineral notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, rich, intense, ripe, lemon-apple meringue flavours with a long, lingering, fairly high acid, gently toasty, faintly honeyed finish. Extremely attractive and ready-to-drink with fine effervescence. The ISO showed extremely well with 97-points. Next Moet & Chandon flute - excellent minerality on nose and a tad more ripeness on the palate (97) / Krug flute (large opening) - more diffuse/ rounder and faintly nuttier (94) / Eisch flute (largest with large mouth) - diminished nose - warm, riper, faintly nutty 93 / Rosenthal flute (lean - smallest mouth) - complex brighter lemon-apple meringue (96). Finally, a Spiegelau 6 oz Authentis Digestive glass that showed most flavour and structure (97.5). I repeated the tasting with a fresh pout with similar results. Some yes, the glass changes the impression and the “best” can only be determined by your own taste. This blend of 54% Chardonnay and 46% Pinot Noir was disgorged February 2019 with a dosage of 5 g/L residual sugar. It has 12.5% alcohol and with lot number LALVM3-00002 on the lower part of the glass bottle. CSPC 280461
