CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2016 Margaret River, Western Australia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer STELLA BELLA
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. After a so-so 2015, this 2016 is best I have tasted to date. Very deep intense purple red colour. Spicy, intense, gently herbal, spearminty, intense, ripe plum-cherry nose with some savouty notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, spicy, tangy, intense, ripe, raspberry-plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, high acid, cedary finish. Aged for 15 months in French oak (27% new) this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has 14% alcohol, 2 g/L residual sugar and 6.3 g/L total acidity with lot number L342/17 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. The 2015 was released on November 9, 2019 at $28.95. CSPC 487777

As ever, Stella Bella's cabernet is super-sized, exploring every corner of the mouth, whether invited or not. Cedar, smoke, cassis and redcurrant are embraced by a robe of ripe tannins.
