Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ROCHE DE BELLENE
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. A REPEAT of the 2018 that was released on June 27, 2020 at $23.95. This is a good example of the pure, still youthful Pinot Noir character that typifies a well-made Bourgogne! It is showing much better than the shipment last June and here is my new updated note: Fairly deep intense, purple colour. Slightly spicy, bright, fairly ripe, plum-cherry-cranberry nose with some slightly minerally, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, still fairly youthful, attractive, very fresh, fairly ripe, bright, plum-red-cherry flavours with a very gently cedary, fairly well structured, slightly grippy, crisp finish. Has 12.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. CSPC 299859

TASTING NOTE: Here's a nicely firm, tart and sour-edged youthful Burgundy that I would age a year, just to buff the edges a bit. It is showing good colour depth and fairly ripe cherry/raspberry fruit from this warmer year. Plus well measured oak spice and a certain earthiness. It is medium weight, solid and a bit tannic, but all in proportion. The length is very good to excellent. Best 2022 to 2025. Score - 89 (David Lawrason, winealign.com, July 2, 2020) Price $ 22.95
