Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer STÉPHANE AVIRON
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. At last we have a really worthwhile example of what is considered to be leader of the ten “cru” located intense, nose the northern region of Beaujolais. Made from 100% Gamay, Moulin-a-Vent is the most southern of the group and has some 300 producers. Very deep intense violet purple colour. Lovely, intense, gently complex, fragrant nose that exudes ripe plums, roses, violets and an abundance of mineralty. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, youthful, fairly extracty, youthful, ripe plum, dark cherry, and cassis flavours that shows lots of grippy notes on the lingering fairly high acid finish that suggests an ability to age well. Great with roast chicken, mushrooms and game. Has 14% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar. The 2016 (not presented) was released on August 17, 2019 at $23.95. CSPC 368134
