ROCCHE DELL'ANNUNZIATA BAROLO 2015 DOCG
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ROCCHE COSTAMAGNA
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Here is a modern take on the traditional “old school” Barolo style that shows subtlty and finesse over power. One glance and the colour tells you immediately what to expect - medium deep faintly ambering garnet-ruby red. The nose is quite intense - slightly spicy and faintly leathery with some still youthful, licorice-tinged, ripe plum fruit. It is dry, medium bodied, fairly tangy and gently spicy with fairly intense, sandalwood-tinged, perfectly ripe, plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, fairly crisp, very faintly rustic, high acid finish. This requires a larger glass format (as compared to melon small ISO) and possible decanting. Will improve. Has 14% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L3BR15/20 on the back label. The 2013 (***) was released on May 12, 2018 at $59.95. CSPC 413484

TASTING NOTE: Deliciously spiced red-cherry, blueberry, pink-grapefruit and pomegranate aromas with very attractive complexity already on release. The palate delivers a superb array of finely detailed tannins and impeccably concentrated red cherries that have pitch-perfect ripeness. This is impressive. Try from 2023.
