Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CHÂTEAU D'AQUÉRIA
A REPEAT of the recommended 2019 (***) was released on June 13, 2020 at $24.95. Here is my previous note: Bright light reddish colour. Intense, slightly spicy, ripe, red- apple-plum nose with some mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, nicely structured, tangy, spicy, ripe apple-plum flavours with a lingering, bright, fresh, still youthful, frais de bois finish. Versatile - would work well with salmon and even roast chicken. Perfect for a Sunday brunch. The Château d’Aqueria dates back to 1595 and Louis Joseph d’Aqueria. Now for three generations dating back to 1919, the Olivier family owns and runs Château d’Aqueria. The AOC was established in 1936 and the entire Southern Rhone commune of Tavel is dedicated 100% to Rosé - no reds or whites. This hefty classic 2019 Tavel is a new blend of 52% Grenache Noir with 12% Syrah, 11% Mourvèdre, 9% Clairette, 9% Cinsault, 5% Bourboulenc and 2% Picpoul. It has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number LT0020 on the back label. CSPC 319368

TASTING NOTE: One of Tavels's arch classic Rosés, built sturdier than most and of a hue that stands out as being only from this very particular appellation. This is [the] sort that pairs well with Hemingway and protests, cerebral company and food that can stand up to the bold flavours it supplies. This by Château D'Aquéria and 2019 get together for Tavel excellence in the fully expressive ways of these formidable Rosé. Prominent, poignant and profound. Drink 2020-2024.
