AMA CHIANTI CLASSICO 2016 DOCG |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
AMA |
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Fairly deep purple-ruby colour. Fraganct, violet-rose-tinged nose with some slightly spicy, bright, still fresh, plum-crancherrry fruit accompanied by faintly earthy, sandalwood notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, somewhat complex, bright, ripe plum-crancherry flavours with some mineral notes and a lingering gently cedary, high-acid, fairly grippy, still youthful, slightly bitter finish. This blend of 96% Sangiovese and 4% Merlot has 13% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L18a11 on the back label. The 2015 (***) was released on February 16, 2019 at $34.95. |

TASTING NOTE: Backwards and traditional in style, this red will require some time to find equilibrium and reveal all its facets. Shows purity to the core of cherry, currant, leather and earth flavors, finishing firm and long. Best from 2021 through 2036. Score - 93 (Bruce Sanderson, winespectator.com, Oct. 31, 2018) |
