Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
DOMAINE LAFAGE |
Deep intense purple colour. Fairly intense, somewhat spicy, gently juicy, warm, ripe, Damson plum nose with some faintly bitter, crancherry, cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, spicy, fairly intense, somewhat hot, plum-cherry flavours with a somewhat cedary, red-apple-tinged, high acid, minerally, still youthful finish. Try with a grilled skirt steak. This 100% Grenache has 15% alcohol and 4g/L residual sugar with lot number L20135A on the back label. The 2017 was released on June 8, 2019 at $19.95. |

TASTING NOTE: The 2018 Nicolas is 100% Grenache, still aging in a combination of demi-muids and tanks. There's a floral top note accenting ripe black cherries on the nose, while the palate is medium to full-bodied, supple and creamy, finally finishing with a touch of velvet and spice. It should be a beauty when released later in the year. Score - 90-92 (Joe Czerwinski, robertparker.com, April 30, 2019) |
