Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer SAINT DIDIER
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Here’s a solid 100% Malbec from Cahors that stands up and says hello! It’s hard to ignore. Swirl this deep, dark, purple-tinged elixir and you will be swamped with intense, complex ripe, cassis-plum-raspberry-black-cherry fruit along with some cedary, mocha-chocolate notes. Dry, medium-full bodied with fine density and structure. There’s lots of flavours focusing on maturing, ripe, Damson plums and blackberries with mouthfiiling, slightly earthy, sandalwood-cedar notes on he lingering finish. Roasts, stews, anything with lamb will do. Has 14% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L-7-23-23-09-19 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Owner Hervé Fabre is famous for his old vine Malbecs in Argentina at Fabre Montmayou. In 2017 he invested three properties in Cahors where Malbec originated - St-Didier is one of them.
