DORILLI CERASUOLO DI VITTORIA CLASSICO 2016 DOCG
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer PLANETA
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Launched in 1995 Planeta presents excellent refined modern interpretations on a variety of Sicilian classics. Dorilli is a blend of 70% Nero d'Avola and 30% Frappato from the southern coastal Vittoria region. This Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico DOCG has a fairly deep violet-tinged ruby colour. It has a superb, elegant, gently complex, sandalwood-tinged, fruit-focused nose with bright cherries, fresh Damson plums with some hints of cassis and strawberry. On the palate, this 2016 seems almost cool-climate-inspired. Dry, medium bodied, very bright, well structured, ripe but restrained, plum-strawberry-crancherry flavours with some minerally, very faintly toasty notes on the lingering, high acid, gently complex finish. Start drinking it now - it will go well with salmon and wild game birds, specially grouse. It has 13% alcohol with 2 g/L residual sugar and 6.1 g/L total acidity with lot number L18D081 on the back label. NEW in Vintages, only 50 cases of 6 of this Flagship Exclusive are available in 11 stores. CSPC 15085

Tasting Note: Here's a terrific lean to mid-weight red wine from Sicily. The 2016 Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico Dorilli is a vibrant and lively blend of 70% Nero d'Avola and 30% Frappato that burst from the glass with immediate appeal. I love the energy you get from this easy-drinking red. Drink date: 2018-2022. Score - 92. (Monica Larner, robertparker.com, Dec. 28, 2018) Price $ 39.95
