BICENTO IRPINIA CAMPI TAURASINI 2016 DOC |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
NATIV |
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, complex, very ripe, plum purée nose with some floral, violet-tinged, cedary, baked chestnut notes. Fairly dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, spicy, intense, attractive, very ripe, warm, plum-cherry-raspberry purée flavours with a lingering, fairly high-acid, gently cedary, somewhat smoky, sandalwood-tinged finish that shows a touch of resid{ N S SM M ML L XL }ual sugar. This hefty 100% Aglianico has 14.5% alcohol and 15 g/L residual sugar with lot number 2016 L25-2-20 on the back label. The recommended 2013 (***) was released on October 27, 2018 at $41.95. |

TASTING NOTE: This wine is sourced from 100% Aglianico grown in 200-year-old vineyards on volcanic soils on the Campi Taurasi (\"fields of Taurasi\"). The area's ungrafted vines make it a modern oenological relic of a bygone era and a true rarity. Expect a wine with rich, impressive dark fruit framed by a well-balanced, integrated sweetness.
