RIOJA GRAN RESERVA 2011 Labastida de Alava, DOCa Rioja |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
GRANJA REMELLURI |
Very deep intense purple colour. Complex, intense, slightly spicy, baked plum-cherry nose with lots of sandalwood-cedar notes and hints of wild blueberry. Dry, medium-full bodied, very well structured, dense, intense, maturing, ripe plum-cherry-sandalwood flavours with some dried cherry and red pimento notes on the long, lingering, still youthful, hefty, high acid, faintly smoky, licorice-chestnut-sandalwood-tinged finish. This Tempranillo with some Garnacha and Graciano has 14.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L001 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: The white truffle and dark berry character comes through here. Rosemary too. Full body, chewy and extremely long. It shows fantastic length and structure. Noble tannins. Needs at least five to six years to soften. Score - 97 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Jan. 18, 2018) |
