Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Deep purple red colour. Intense, complex, faintly earthy, expressive, slightly smoky, ripe plum-crancherry puree nose with some cedary notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, expansive, fairly intense, gently complex, ripe plummy-black-cherry puree flavours with a lingering, somewhat grippy, fairly spicy, gently cedary, crancherry finish. Solid, attractive and quite ready-to-drink. Has 14.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number 20160807 on the lower part of the glass bottle and L161206 on the back label. The 2012 (***) was released on February 18, 2017 at $69.95. |

TASTING NOTE: Baked black-cherry and plum aromas meet with star anise, hot gingerbread and wet slate on the fairly opulent, very delicious nose of this bottling. It's more tightly wound on the palate, where cherry and black raspberry are lifted by baking spice. It's the pitch perfect acidity and tannic edge that are most impressive.
