FLEUR MONTEREY PINOT NOIR 2016 Monterey County |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
CARNEROS WINE COMPANY |
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. This has been renamed simply Fleur, which strikes me as a very good idea. The most important thing is that this is a much improved Pinot Noir from Monterey, not Carneros. Medium deep red colour. Slightly spicy, attractive, juicy, ripe, plummy, black cherry nose with some cedary, raspberry notes. Dry, medium bodied, harmonious, slightly spicy, bright ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, crisp, gently cedary, tangy ripe raspberry finish. Very tasty, versatile and ready-to-drink, this will appeal to many. It has 13.8% alcohol 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number 20170310 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Better than the recommended 2011 (**/**+) was released on February 15, 2014 at $19.95. |

TASTING NOTE: This delivers impressive notes of cranberry, cherry, strawberry, vanilla, oak, earth and baking spice. A spine of fresh acidity brings balance and makes this a versatile, food-friendly Pinot. A wine with presence and character. Serve with grilled chicken, or pork chops with mint sauce.
