CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2016 WO Stellenbosch |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
LE RICHE |
Assessed from a bottle supplied by the agent. Very deep intense purple colour. Fragrant, slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry nose with some red beet root, cedar-tinged, sandalwood notes. Dry medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, harmonious, fairly intense, gently complex, ripe, plummy, red and black cherry fruit flavours along with a bright, lingering, fairly high acid, faintly savoury finish. The tasty 100% Cab Sauv spent 24 months in 225L French oak (44% new) and has 14.5% alcohol and 1.7 g/L residual sugar with lot number 17418 on the lower part of the glass bottle. A real winner with a bbq rib steak, it offers real value and is clean as a whistle. |

TASTING NOTE: The 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon has a compact, red-fruited nose with soft, dusty florals and spiced, red licorice tones. On the medium to full-bodied palate, the wine is bright and expresses both dusty black fruit and bright red fruit balanced by oak. It has a grippy yet fine-grained tannic structure and is well made and tasty. Drink date: 2019-2034. Score - 90 (Anthony Mueller, robertparker.com, Oct. 31, 2019) |
