Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BASTIDE MIRAFLORS
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Extremely deep intense purple colour. Bright, intense, ripe, cassis-plum-cherry purée nose with some toffee-tiinged, cedary notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, ripe plummy, black cherry flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, cedar-tinged finish. This terrific blend of 74% Syrah (in concrete tanks) and 26% Grenache (in 600 litre oak demi-muid barrels) has 14.5% alcohol and 7 g/L residual sugar with a new lot number L20024A on the lower part of the glass bottle. A REPEAT

TASTING NOTE: A blend of 74% Syrah and 26% Grenache that was brought in a mix of tank and used barrels, the 2017 Bastide Miraflors has a fabulous minerality as well as terrific kirsch, black raspberry, wild fennel, white pepper, and hints of black licorice aromas and flavors. Pure, medium to full-bodied, silky, and seamless on the palate, it's perfectly balanced, and way over-delivers. Drink it over the coming 2-3 years. Maturity: 2019-2022.
