SPARKLING ROSÉ 2014 Traditional method, VQA Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CHÂTEAU DES CHARMES
A REPEAT of the 2014 (**+) that was released on May 27, 2017 at $29.95. Here is my previous note. It was ready-to-drink and their best yet, but who knows how it is showing three years later! Vibrant bright pink colour. Attractive, dry, gently fruity, plummy, strawberry-tinged nose with some mineral notes. Fairly dry, medium-light bodied, harmonious, gently spicy, fresh, plummy, bright. strawberry flavours with a lingering, effervescent, crisp. refreshing finish. This blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir has 12.5% alcohol and 12 g/L residual sugar with over two years of aging on the lees in the classic Champagne style. CSPC 78055

TASTING NOTE: The 2014 incarnation of this Traditional Method sparkling rosé pours a striking bright pink colour and offers aromas of raspberry, cherry and tender rose petals. A blend of chardonnay and pinot noir that has spent 2 years on the lees before disgorgement resulting in a delicate yeasty, autolytic note on the palate. Elegant and well-balanced with no apparent sweetness and a slight tannic edge. Mid-weight with very good length. Score - 89 (Sara d'Amato, winealign.com, March 29, 2018) Price $ 34.95
