GRAN RESERVA 2006 DOCa Rioja |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
FAUSTINO I |
A REPEAT of the recommended 2006 (***) that was released on December 7, 2019 at $31.95. Here is my previous note: Fairly deep intense purple colour. Attractive, cedary, fairly intense, slightly spicy, warm ripe plum nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, well structured, harmonious, gently cedary, intense, warm plum flavours with a lifted, lingering, high acid, sandalwood-cedar finish. This new blend of 88% Tempranillo, 7% Graciano and 5% Mazuelo (Cariņena)was aged for more than 24 months in American and French oak barrels and has 13.5% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar. |

TASTING NOTE: Smooth, welcoming aromas of cola, black fruits and integrated oak are soft and indicate that this is ready to drink. A plump, sappy palate delivers ripe berry and chocolate flavors, while this is fleshy on a finish weighted down by berry pulp. Drink through 2021. Score - 91 (Michael Schachner, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 1, 2018) |
