PINOT NOIR 2018 Yarra Valley, Victoria
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer GIANT STEPS
Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Bright deep red colour with a touch of purple. Complex, somewhat earthy, gently spicy, intense, roasted ripe Damson plums and crancherries on the nose with some cedar-tinged, ultra ripe fresh raspberry notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, dense, rich, bright, ripe, raspberry flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, complex, gently toasty, baked Alaska finish. Wow, what a distinctive/tasty mouthfilling Pinot Noir thanks to great winemaking - especially the unfined and unfiltered part. It has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. TASTING NOTE: Elegant and distinctive, offering fresh raspberry, sage and white pepper notes that are precise, supple and juicy, with a thread of fresh loam and forest floor, supported by polished tannins. A touch of matcha green tea lingers on the finish. Drink now through 2033. Ranks #42 in Wine Spectator's Top 100 list of 2019. Highly Recommended.
