KEW VINEYARDS DRY ORGANIC RIESLING SPARKLING 2017 VQA Ontario
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer KEW VINEYARDS
This is one of 68 items (125 releases) that was not going to be presented for evaluation under new LCBO policies. A REPEAT of the 2017 that last appeared in Vintages (**+) on April 13, 2019 at $19.95 and was Recommended. Here is my previous note: Bright light straw colour. Fairly intense, spicy, honeyed, ripe melon-apple-lemon purée nose with some mineral notes. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, very slightly honeyed, spicy, fresh, ripe lemon-apple-melon flavours with a lingering, crisp, mineral-tinged, effervescent finish. Ready-to-drink. This tasty organic Riesling has 10.5% alcohol and 9 g/L residual sugar with a crown capsule. Made in the traditional method, it spend only two months on the lees and has a slightly lower 5 atmospheres. CSPC 645309

TASTING NOTE: Kew joins the ranks for another Ontario varietal sparkling wine and is quite equipped with the fruit and acumen to do so. In that respect it's a true to varietal bubble with a combination of flinty reductive energy and gaseous petrol-tonic. The lime quotient comes from every part of the fruit and the elemental high hovers above the Beamsville vineyards. Quite an effect is created and this has me thinking food, prepping my mouth to look for seafood, fresh oysters and side pickles. Drink 2019-2022.
