This is one of 68 items (125 releases) that was not going to be presented for evaluation under new LCBO policies. Assessed from a bottle purchased at the LCBO. Deep intense purple-ruby colour. Bright, spicy, rather juicy, ripe, plum-crancherry-strawberry nose with some faint toasty notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, tangy, ripe plum-crancherry puree flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, licorice-sandalwood-tinged finish. Has 14% alcohol and 6 g/L residual sugar. Only 390 cases produced. Versatile and ready-to-drink. Try with salmon, chicken or my favourite - Wiener schnitzel. Last appeared in Vintages (**+/***) on October 28, 2017 at $23.95 and was Recommended Best Buy. |

TASTING NOTE: The 2015 vintage threw a few curve balls at winemakers but led to intense, characterful wines such as this Pinot. This Beamsville Bench beauty is savoury, silky and balanced, with straightforward cherry character, well integrated tannins, smoky dark fruit, earth and oak spice. Pair this supple, fresh, lively wine with spicy beef tacos. (Vintages panel, April 2019) |
