Absent for preview as I was Judging 2020 Concours Mondial du Sauvignon in France. Purchased a bottle at LCBO - here is my tasting note. Deep intense violet ruby red colour. Very attractive, gently complex, slightly spicy, intense, still fresh, ripe, plummy, red cherry nose with some woodsy, cassis-tinged notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, very slightly spicy, harmonious, ripe, rounded, plum-cherry-raspberry-cassis flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, bright finish. Seamless with rounded ripe tannins makes it very approachable now but it still will evolve. This new unfiltered blend of 80% Granache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre has 14.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L19241/1 on the lower part of the glass bottle. |

TASTING NOTE: The 2017 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Vendange has a concentrated, medium to full-bodied style as well as some exotic, sappy herbs, and spring flower aromas and flavours. Leading with more dark fruit, it gains depth and richness with time in the glass and will certainly be an outstanding wine. Score - 91-93 (Jeb Dunnuck, jebdunnuck.com, Aug. 28, 2018) |
