MALBEC 2016 AC Cahors
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer PRIEURÉ DE CÉNAC
In France judging the 2020 Concours Mondial du Sauvignon. Here is my new updated note from a bottle just purchased at the LCBO: Extremely deep intense purple colour. Attractive, gently complex, intense, ripe, mullberry-cherry-plum nose with some complex, gently toasty notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, ripe, plummy-cherry flavours with a lingering, gently grippy, high acid, faintly cedary, finish. Has 13.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L7-23-23 09 19 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Here is Tony Aspler’s review (88.5-points). Opaque pur-ple colour; faintly cedary, mulberry-blackberry nose; medium-bodied, dry, jammy, blackberry flavours with racy acidity and a firm finish. Has not appeared in Vintages before. CSPC 12985

TASTING NOTE: This wine comes from a selection of parcels on the plateau above the Lot river in Cahors. It's rich and firm, with great wood and spice notes as well as exuberant black plum and berry fruit. With its acidity, still-young tannins and firm texture, it will age. Drink from 2020. Score - 93 (Roger Voss, Wine Enthusiast, Dec. 31, 2017) Price $ 24.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
