ONE POINT FIVE CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2016 Stags Leap District, Napa Valley |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
SHAFER |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Attractive, very intense, slightly spicy, bright, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis nose with lots of cedary notes. Dry, medium-full to full bodied, grippy, youthful, intense, slightly spicy, mouthfilling, black-cherry-plum-cassis flavours with a lingering, high acid, rather cedary, refined finish. Yes it shows lots of refinement, but it still is quite tight,. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon has 15.3% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar and spent 20 months in 100% new French oak barrels (Allier & Tronçais). It needs another decade. The 2015 (***) was released on November 10, 2018 at a mere $84.95. |

TASTING NOTE: Made of 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon One Point Five Stags Leap is very deep purple-black in color and gives up intense Black Forest cake, black berry pie and black currant cordial scents with hints of licorice, eucalyptus, espresso, tar and chargrilled beef. Full-bodied, it packs the black fruit preserves flavors and earthy accents into the palate, with a firm frame and great freshness on the finish. Drink date: 2019-2045. Score - 95 (Lisa Perrotti-Brown, MW, robertparker.com, Oct. 29, 2018) |
