QUILINA GRAN RESERVA CARMENÈRE 2018 Estate bottled, Colchagua Valley |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
MARCHIGUE |
Tasted once, this hefty, solid, herb-inflected, surprisingly well-made Carmenere (especially at the price) will definitely appeal to this grape’s fans. Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, complex, very herbal, slightly baked, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis nose with lots of cedary notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, dense, well structured, somewhat herbal, slightly spicy, intense, expansive, ripe plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, high acid, gently cedary finish. Has 14% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number L19283 on the back label. |

TASTING NOTE: Chewy and ripe, with impressive black fruit, plum, sweet spices, anise, smoke, vanilla and a savoury, meaty backbone. A wine that calls for a nice juicy steak. (Vintages panel, July 2019) |
