MOUNT BARKER SYRAH 2017 Great Southern, Western Australia |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
REVEREND V |
This extremely tasty Syrah with its huge flavours and wonderful length may be the bargain red of the release. Very deep intense purple colour. Complex, spicy, Intense, ripe, plum-cherry purée nose with lots of cedary, mocha-chocolate notes. Fairly dry, medium-full bodied, rich, extracty, very smooth, ultra ripe plum-cherry-cassis purée flavours with a very long, lingering, high acid, cedary finish. Perfect with a lamb stew. Has 14.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number 8196 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. Has not appeared in Vintages before. |

TASTING NOTE: Bang on. Filled with ripe fruit and flung with spice. Silken and textural too. Cloves, blue and black berries, graphite and cedar spice. Black pepper, just a sprinkle. Effortless from start to finish. Pure quality. Drink by 2032. Special value. Score - 96 (Campbell Mattinson, winecompanion.com.au, Aug. 1, 2019) |
