CHARLES DE BATZ TANNAT/CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2014 AC Madiran |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
BERTHOUMIE |
This seriously tasty, still youthful, truly terrific 2014 Madiran is really something you can lay away. Extremely deep intense purple colour. Intense, expansive, very attractive, warm, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis nose with some cedary-sandalwood notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, dense, harmonious, intense, ripe plum flavours with a lingering, high acid, somewhat cedary, complex finish. This blend of 90% Tannat and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon has 14% to 14.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. It comes in a very heavy bottle with no lot number. Tasted twice - one bottle was labeled with 14% alcohol, the other with 14.5% alcohol. Has not appeared in Vintages before. |

TASTING NOTE: This is a bold, structured and firm wine, full of dark tannins and ripe fruit. It has power and a dark presence that comes from the dense texture and the dry core that is still a powerful element in the wine. That means that the wine needs to age further. Drink from 2021.
