MERLOT 2018 Lodi
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer IRONSTONE
Fairly deep intense purple colour. Juicy, spicy, somewhat cedary, ripe, plum-cherry purée nose with some faint mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, slightly spicy, harmonious, ripe, black-cherry-plum purée flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid, gently cedary finish. For my taste, this new 2018 ready-to-drink, crowd-pleaser is by far the best yet! It has 14.5% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar with lot number L16619 on the lower part of the glass bottle. The 2017 (not presented) was released on August 31, 2019 at $17.95. CSPC 704353

TASTING NOTE: The Kautz family, owners and operators of Ironstone, began farming in Lodi in 1926 and have been making wine there for four generations. This fruit-forward Merlot spends two months in new French oak, adding a subtle vanilla layer to spicy dark fruit. Always a favourite with Vintages customers. Price $ 17.95
