THE GENTLEMAN CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2017 Barossa, South Australia |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
TEUSNER |
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Spicy, intense, rather reedy, somewhat herbal, slightly baked, plum-cherry nose with lots of sandalwood notes. Had some initial hints of furniture polish on the nose! Very dry, medium to medium-full bodied, well structured, slightly spicy, intense, complex, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, cedary, rather grippy, high acid, cedary, mineral-driven finish. Has 14.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L19253 on the lower part of the glass bottle with a screwcap closure. Has not appeared in Vintages before and is not for everyone. |

TASTING NOTE: The colour is a deep crimson-purple, and the volume of cassis/black currant fruit is very impressive. While it is powerful, the edges have been skillfully honed and smoothed, making the wine an each way proposition - now or much later. Drink by: 2037. Special Value. Score - 93 (James Halliday, winecompanion.com.au, Aug. 1, 2019) |
