CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2016 McLaren Vale, South Australia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer MONTERRA
Fairly deep intense purple red colour. Slightly spicy, gently cedary, faintly herbaceous, intense, very bright, ripe, plummy-black-cherry purée nose with some gently cedary notes. Dry, medium to medium-full bodied, quite well structured, harmonious, somewhat spicy, tangy, attractive, ripe, plum-cherry-cranberry-cassis flavours with a lingering, high acid, fairly cedary, sandalwood-tinged finish. Attractive and perhaps still a tad youthful. Has 14.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with a screwcap closure. Tasted twice from different bottles. Has not appeared in Vintages before. CSPC 12835

TASTING NOTE: Gracefully powerful and delectable, the wine shows lifted aromas of creme de cassis, plum jam, roasted hazelnut and subtle dried herbs on the nose, followed by an impressively weighted palate that is succulent and mouthfilling. Varietally expressive and gratifying. At its best: now to 2026. Score - 94 (Sam Kim, wineorbit.co.nz, Jan. 2019) Price $ 19.95
