TASTING NOTE: Wow! Now here's great value! The aglianico grape is considered to be the nebbiolo of southern Italy - firm, gutsy, complex. This captures so much of this character for only $15. Great structure and depth but in that dry, grippy Euro style that you need to embrace up front. Expect lifted currants, thyme, pepper, old spicy wood and earthiness. It is medium weight, warming, drying and thoroughly engaging. The length is excellent. Score - 91 (David Lawrason, winealign.com, Feb. 20, 2019) |
