Extremely deep intense purple colour. Very slightly spicy, faintly dusty, ripe plum-cherry nose with some sandalwood notes. Dry, medium bodied, tangy, slightly spicy, ripe plum-cherry flavours with a very crisp, high acid finish. This blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon has 13% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with a new lot number LBX2 on the back label. This REPEAT is better than the 2015 (*+) that was released on July 7, 2018 at $15.95. |

TASTING NOTE: The eight-hectare Château Les Tourelles has been overseen by the Darriet family since 1938. This 2015 is mostly Merlot with some Cabernet Franc, and it offers complex, layered red plum, strawberry, dark cherry, tobacco, mocha and earth tones. Juicy, structured and balanced, with a refined mineral undertone. A great value and a perfect choice for lamb. [The Concours de Bordeaux did not include a tasting note.] Score - Gold (Concours de Bordeaux, 2016) |
