THE STAG CABERNET SAUVIGNON 2016 North Coast |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
ST. HUBERTS |
Very deep intense purple colour. Intense, spicy, ripe, plummy-black-cherry purée nose with some cedary, mineral notes. Dry, medium bodied, quite well structured, bright, ripe, tangy, plum-cherry flavours with a lingering, high acid gently cedary finish. Very tasty and ready-to-drink! This blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 6% Petite Sirah, and 3% Tannat was assembled from portions aged in barrel and stainless steel (the latter to preserve fruit and freshness). It has 13.8% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar. |

TASTING NOTE: A blend of grapes (82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 6% Petite Sirah, and 3% Tannat) is sourced throughout California's fine wine regions, primarily Red Hills and High Valley in Lake County. Matured in American oak and stainless steel, this full-bodied red engages with aromas of earthy chocolate and cedar. Its depth of character shows through a lush mouthfeel. Structured yet supple tannins glide alongside flavors of coffee, sage, and violets. Score - 92 (Meridith May, tastingpanelmag.com, Jan. 29, 2019) |
