FAMILY CREST SHIRAZ 2017 Vegan friendly, McLaren Vale, South Australia
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer ANGOVE
Very deep intense purple colour. Attractive, intense, complex, toasty, ripe, plummy, black cherry nose with some gently cedary notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, dense, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, high acid gently cedary, fairly complex finish. Has 14% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar with lot number L19228 on the lower part of the glass bottle. Screwcap closure. Has not appeared in Vintages before. Great winemaking: The grapes were crushed into 70-year-old open concrete vats where the fermentation was initiated by indigenous “wild” yeasts. Aged for 12-14 months in French and American oak hogheads (300L barrels) where the malolactic fermentation takes place followed by minimal filtration
and bottling.
