ME PINOT NOIR 2018 Wairarapa, North Island |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
MATAHIWI ESTATE |
Medium-deep red colour. Intense, fairly complex, slightly reductive, spicy, attractive, ripe, cranberry-plum-cassis purée nose with some gentle cedary notes. Dry, medium bodied, fairly intense, ripe, plum-cherry-cassis flavours with a lingering, high acid gently cedary, sandalwood-tinged finish. A tasty, rather classy, crowd-pleasing Pinot Noir that has lots of appeal at the price. Has 15.5% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar. Has not appeared in Vintages before. |

TASTING NOTE: This offers ripe fruit framed by spicy, toasty oak. The palate is fresh, focused and silky, with impressive vibrancy and length. A great wine for beef bourguignon, this will continue to evolve for the next 5+ years. (Vintages panel, April 2019) |
