GARZÓN RESERVA ALBARIÑO 2018 Maldonado
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer BODEGA GARZÓN
One of 72 items (60% of 136 releases) not presented for evaluation under new LCBO policies. The agent did not provide me with a sample and, unfortunately, it was late in arriving at LCBO stores. Here is my note: Very bright medium straw colour. Slightly spicy, fresh, youthful, lemon nose with lots of mineral notes. Dry, medium to medium-light bodied, very gently spicy, vibrant, ripe, lemon-apple flavours with a lingering, fairly high acid mineral-tinged, very crisp, unoaked finish. Almost Chablisesque, this 100% Albarino has 14% alcohol and only 3.7 g/L residual sugar (not 6 g/L as posted on the LCBO website) with lot number RA300818 on the back label. Screwcap closure. Albariño is the flagship white wine for Garzón and was actually the first varietal planted on the property. The grape thrives in Maldonado; the region's proximity to the sea and soil is similar to that of Albariño's home in Spain's Galicia region. TASTING NOTE: 100% Albariño. Apricot and peach nose, a soft and textured palate with light notes of stone fruit and yeast, plus a long, mineral finish. Score - 90 (Decanter Asia Wine Awards, 2018) Price $ 21.95
Bottle Size 750 mL
Tasting Date vintages release - July 6, 2019
Cases bought 143 (12 bottles per case)
