DILEMMA CHARDONNAY 2015 Margaret's Bench, BC VQA Okanagan Valley
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CULMINA
Mature fairly deep yellow colour. Intense, spicy, somewhat cedary, baked lemon-apple meringue nose with some faintly resiny notes. Very dry, medium bodied, spicy, slightly tart, dried ripe lemon-apple flavours with a lingering, high acid, very slightly bitter, somewhat restrained finish. Has 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with 40% malolactic fermentation. While the 2015 vintage was quite hot and this wine is very good, it does not seem to reach the heights of some of Culmina’s other recent Chardonnay vintages. CSPC 568204

TASTING NOTE: Sourced entirely from the new Chardonnay vines planted on the estate's Margaret's Bench in 2011, this wine has a wonderful, rich nose of apples, vanilla toast, minerals, elegant barrel spices and underlying lemon and citrus. It is pure sophistication on the palate, a proper and graceful Chardonnay with a sense of place that shows the fine minerality of the vineyard and lovely toasted oak that works well with the baked apple, pear and spice flavours that are well-balanced to the very end. A winner of a Chardonnay. Score - 92 (Rick VanSickle, winesinniagara.com, Nov. 29, 2017) Price $ 47.95
