RESERVA 2009 DOCa Rioja |
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
VIŅA ARANA |
Intense deep purple red colour. Extremely cedary, spicy, baked plum nose. Dry, medium bodied, solid, well structured, dense, mouthfilling, plummy, mocha-chocolate flavours with a lingering, high acid very cedary finish. This hefty Reserva has a huge amount of oak that makes it somewhat off balance, at least at the moment. Has 13.5% alcohol and 3 g/L residual sugar. The 2005 (**/**+) was released on April 26, 2016 at $39.95. |

TASTING NOTE: This is a powerful and rich red with black truffle and blueberry character. Sweet tobacco, too. Full body, tannic and flavorful. Yet open and polished. Fantastic finish. Great ageing potential. Drink or hold. Score - 96 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, July 24, 2017) |
