Vintage Assessments Tasting Note |
Producer |
POL ROGER |
Bright medium straw colour. Intense, very slightly spicy, complex, gently toasty, ripe lemon nose with some buttery notes. Dry, medium-full bodied, well structured, harmonious, intense, bright ripe lemon meringue flavours with a lingering, toasty, complex, mineral-tinged, high acid finish. A ready-to-drink \"gout Anglaise\" style. This blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay has 12.5% alcohol and 10 g/L residual sugar. The recommended 2006 (***/***+) with 96-points was released on January 21, 2017 at $95.95. |

TASTING NOTE: Pol Roger's 2008 Brut Vintage is bright and energetic, but also tightly wound and not fully expressive today. There is good energy to the orchard fruit and citrus driven flavors, not to mention plenty of acid-driven persistence. I would prefer to cellar the 2008 for at least a year or two to see what happens. Drinking Window: 2020- 2028. Score - 90 (Antonio Galloni, vinous.com, July 2017) |
