ZINFANDEL 2015 Mendocino County
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer PAUL DOLAN
Fairly deep purple red colour. Spicy, juicy, ripe red cherry nose with some sandalwood-tinged, tropical fruit cocktail notes. Dry, medium bodied, slightly spicy, fairly tangy, gently juicy, plummy, ripe cherry flavours with a crisp finish. I know that there is a market for this style of Zin, but personally find them to be rather jammy meaning that one glass is usually enough. Has 15% alcohol and 5 g/L residual sugar. CSPC 46342

TASTING NOTE: Grown organically on hillsides above the Russian River, this is everything you'd hope to get in an inexpensive Mendocino zinfandel (or an expensive one, for that matter). It smells a bit jammy but turns out to be deliciously spicy and brambly, its lush blue fruit taking on a vibrant, floral-tinged length. It's a ripe, sunny wine that's hard not to love.
