TASTING NOTE: The oak-aged reds are released quite late, and they are polished when they hit the shelves, like the case of the 2010 Xestal, which is also Mencía fermented in stainless steel and matured in barrique for one year. This must have had a lot of oak when younger, as the spicy and smoky aromas are still quite strong, but they are getting integrated with ripe black fruit. The palate is medium to full-bodied with plenty of oak-related flavors and some fine, slightly dusty tannins. The bottle seems to have done it good. Drink Date: 2016-2018.
