BELLEZZA GRAN SELEZIONE CHIANTI CLASSICO 2013 DOCG
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer CASTELLO DI GABBIANO
Deep intense purple colour. Extremely cedary, spicy, complex, plummy, red licorice nose. Dry, medium-full bodied, tangy, cedary, intense, spicy, ripe, plummy-sundried tomato flavours with a lingering, sandalwood-driven finish. The bottom line is that despite it’s complexity and structural virtues, this Classico is for my palate over-oaked (16 months in small oak) masking the lovely fruit that lies beneath. This 100% Sangiovese has 13.5% alcohol and 4 g/L residual sugar with lot number L16055 on the lower part of the glass bottle. The 2012 (**+) was released on July 9, 2016 at $39.95. I still preferred less cedary 2011 (***) released on August 22, 2015 at $39.95. CSPC 652438

TASTING NOTE: The 2013 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Bellezza (100% Sangiovese) is the belle of the ball among this group of new releases. The wine offers bright intensity with a direct and honest delivery. The bouquet peels back to show wild fruit, balsam herb, cola and moist chewing tobacco. As the wine warms in the glass, it delivers more rosemary-like intensity that adds to the brightness and the direct appeal of the wine. Drink Date: 2017-2028.
