MUNFRINA DOLCETTO D'ALBA 2015 DOC
Vintage Assessments Tasting Note Producer PELISSERO
Extremely deep intense purple colour. Tight, dusty, dried plum-red apple nose with some sandalwood notes. Very dry, tangy, medium to medium-light bodied, dusty, dried plum and baked apple flavours with a very high acid, crisp finish. This is not a fun Dolcetto with its 14% alcohol and 2 g/L residual sugar with lot number L1/04-2016 on the back label. Nor is it new in Vintages as claimed - the 2012 (*+) was released on October 25, 2014 at $18.95 (#594770). You can safely ignore the dated tasting note appearing in the Vintages Catalogue. It’s a pass for me. CSPC 541797

TASTING NOTE: Pelissero's 2015 Dolcetto d'Alba Munfrina is dark, rich and seductive, with plenty of richness from the warm vintage. Black cherry, plum, mocha, licorice and dark spices give the Munfrina much of its intense, brooding personality. Readers should expect an unusually flamboyant Dolcetto, yet all the elements are nicely balanced throughout. Drinking window: 2017-2020.
